The Writing Center hosts FREE events to help you explore, enjoy and expand how we express ourselves academically, argumentatively and aesthetically - all while reaffirming writing as a social activity. Our events are free and open to all members of UHCL (students, faculty, staff and alumni).
Writing circles are weekly meetings for groups of writers to work on existing projects, find peer support, and structure accountability as they complete writing tasks. These meetings are hybrid, so you can join us via Zoom or in person at the UHCL Writing Center.
A facilitator from the Writing Center will start each meeting by checking in with writers on what their current project is. Then, writers will spend about 40 minutes on quiet writing time. Finally, there will be an opportunity to share progress and set goals before the next meeting.
Two writing circles will be available for the Fall 2022 semester, the Academic & Technical Writing Circle and the Creative Writing Circle.

Our creative and academic writing workshops are relaxed, group settings to work on fun writing activities related to a particular theme, such as "Fantasy Worldbuilding" or "Writing for the Sciences." These workshops are free and open to the Clear Lake community, so feel free to bring a friend! No registration is required. Contact the Writing Center for more information.
