Apply for Housing

The Student Housing process is open for the 2026-2027 Academic Year!

If you are interested in living on campus at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, please review the steps and information below.

At Hunter Hall, your health, safety, and engagement are our top priorities. There has never been a better time to live on campus!

New Student Housing Referral Program

Student Housing has launched a NEW Student Housing Referral Program! Here are the details.

For each UHCL student you refer to live on campus in Hunter Hall that completes and signs a 2026-27 Residence Hall Service Agreement, and does not cancel prior to the start of the fall 2026 term, you (and that student) will each receive a $250.00 housing credit on your student accounts. The referred student must not have previously lived on-campus in Hunter Hall. There is no limit to how many students you may refer. For example, if you successfully refer four students, you will receive a $1,000.00 housing credit on your student account.

To refer a student, simply send an email to housing@uhcl.edu with both your and the referred student's First and Last Name, and UHCL ID number. In the Subject Line, type "Student Housing Referral". All housing credits granted from successfully completed student housing referrals will be applied to student's accounts during the first two weeks of the fall 2026 term.

Step 1

Log into the UHCL Housing System Portal and opt into Student Housing. You may also access the Housing system through your goUHCL portal access.

There, you will be automatically assigned to University Forest Apartments. If you accept the assignment, the Housing system will direct you to reach out to University Forest Apartments for their leasing information.

However, you may reject the assignment to University Forest Apartments, in which case you may live in and will be assigned to Hunter Hall.

The remaining steps below pertain to the student housing process for Hunter Hall.

Step 2

Complete your Housing Application for Hunter Hall.

Step 3

Once you review and sign your Residence Hall Service Agreement, you will be able to move onto the final step in the process - Selecting a Room and Meal Plan in Hunter Hall. You may search for rooms based upon view and floor. Once you select a room and a meal plan, you are finished with the housing process.

  • Room Buyouts: When searching for your preferred room, should no private singles or semi-private/shared singles be available, select a double room and send an email to housing@uhcl.edu to be placed on the room waitlist. Eligible residents may be able to buy standard double rooms out as semi-private/shared singles throughout the year.

Spring 2026 students will automatically receive the $1,800.00 meal plan each semester, unless they send an email to housing@uhcl.edu to request the higher meal plan option.

Fall 2026-Spring 2027 students will automatically receive the $1,900.00 meal plan (pending Board of Regents approval) each semester, unless they send an email to housing@uhcl.edu to request the higher meal plan option.

Bed spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis, based upon your Residence Hall Service Agreement Signature Date. Room assignments are automatically finalized 45 days before the start of each semester.

Happy exploring, Hawks!
