Civic Engagement Programs

Democracy Fellow Program

Through the sponsorship of the Campus Vote Project, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership hosts two Democracy Fellows that support the conception and execution of voter engagement and civic learning opportunities at UHCL.

The student fellows network with civically-engaged peers across the nation and are recruited at the end of each calendar year.

National Vote Early Day

Through the sponsorship of MTV Vote Early, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership hosts a celebration to encourage students to vote early!

U.S. Constitution Day

Students taking photos at Constitution DayConstitution Day is an annual commemoration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 17, 1787. The United States Constitution is the framework of the U.S. government and defines Citizen rights, including the ability to affect government. The separation of the legislative, judicial and executive branches of government. The scope of federal and state powers. The National Archives provides information about the Founding Documents of the United States, its Constitution and Bill of Rights.

We encourage the UHCL community to join us each year and continue learning and appreciating this living document, which plays an integral role in our everyday lives. We often celebrate with information booths, pocket Constitution giveaways, Constitution informational activities such as trivia, contests, puzzles, photo ops, buttons, and games.
