Dr. Eric J. Tack serves as Associate Vice President for Student Success at the University
of Houston-Clear Lake. With more than 18 years of leadership experience in higher
education, he is recognized for advancing student success through strategic enrollment
management, academic engagement, and data-informed decision-making.
Prior to joining UHCL, Dr. Tack served as Associate Vice President for Academic Engagement at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he provided strategic leadership for advising, retention and graduation initiatives, career development, first-year seminars, academic support, internships and cooperative education, TRIO and outreach programs, accessibility services, and institution-wide student success technologies. Under his leadership, the university achieved measurable improvements in student retention, graduation rates, credit completion, and career outcomes while implementing coordinated, campus-wide student success strategies.
Dr. Tack previously held senior leadership positions at Clayton State University, including Interim Vice President and Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success. Earlier in his career, he served in leadership roles at Georgia Tech, Oglethorpe University, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
As Associate Vice President for Student Success at UHCL, Dr. Tack provides leadership for a portfolio that includes accessibility services, academic advising, retention and completion initiatives, student success technologies, academic support services, and the testing center. He works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus leaders to advance a coordinated, student-centered approach that promotes academic achievement, timely degree completion, and lifelong success.
