The Leadership Experience Development Series (L.E.D.S) is designed to give UHCL students a chance to explore, engage and delve into different concepts of leadership in an interactive series of workshops. Each semester, you can choose from a variety of workshops. All Fall 2021 L.E.D.S Workshops will be offered via Zoom.

Transformational Leadership: Be a Better Leader, Have a Better Life
September 15 | 2-4 p.m.
Presented by: Reginald Jones
Description: Transformational leaders are not just the people in charge, they empower their team to grow! Successful transformational leaders will enhance motivation, morale, and performance of their followers while serving as a beacon for inspiration. By embracing this dynamic leadership approach, empathy, communication, and support between leaders and followers will drastically improve as well. This workshop will discuss key concepts of transformational leadership, why being a selfless leader is important, and will encourage student leaders to think creatively and find new ways to solve personal and professional challenges.
How to Communicate Leadership to Employers

Description: Do you understand your leadership skills but find it difficult to communicate it to potential employers? In this workshop, we will go over how to incorporate leadership skills in resume building, interviewing, and LinkedIn profiles to ensure that they are communicated effectively. Leadership Across Difference: How to Effectively Engage Team Members with Different Life Experiences

Description: As leaders of teams and organizations, it is important to be able to engage with and effectively work with people from varying life experiences that may be different from your own. Through this workshop, participants will learn more about their personal identities and about how these identities impact their work and subsequently their interactions with others. As a result of participation in this program, attendees will be equipped with strategies to use that will help them to be more effective as they lead teams and staffs of varying backgrounds.
Leadership and Wellness in the Workplace
October 19 | 1-3 p.m.
Presented by: Kelsey Mosteller
Description: Your health and wellness can have a direct impact on your leadership within the workplace and your student organizations. This workshop will provide an introduction to how your healthy lifestyle behaviors can have a positive impact on your organization members, how it can affect your ability to be an efficient leader, and how your management style impacts your team's mental and physical wellbeing.
The Illusion of Contribution
November 1 | Noon-2 p.m.
Presented by: Cierra Davis and Kalee Schotsch
Description: What does it mean to contribute to the world around you? Join us as we dive into the perception of contribution and the roles we play in our community. During this session we will discuss topics such as social justice and activism and how these concepts can be misconstrued due to current societal expectations.
Exploration of Words: The Art of Public Speaking

Presented by: Erica Njoku
Description: Are you interested in learning more about effective public speaking? Perhaps you want to follow up on lessons learned in the classroom or you are preparing to host your first organization meeting or speaking engagement. This workshop will focus on best practices when public speaking, overcoming nervousness and helping you wow your next audience!
