Small Group Training Programs

Uplifting  

Description: Led by a certified personal trainer, participants will learn the basics of strength training in a small group training format. This program is designed for beginner and intermediate fitness levels. At the completion of the program participants will receive a 6-week strength training program designed to their fitness abilities.

  • Cost: UHCL Students $20 / RWC Member $25

30 Minute Lunch Rush 

Description: Learn how to easily fit exercise into your lunch hour...it only takes 30 minutes and a little motivation. Our trainers will instruct you on the use of selectorize machines, resistance training and design an exercise plan that meets your busy schedule.

  • Location: Meet in RWC PT Suite but the entire RWC will be used

Walk/Jog Small Group Training 

Description: Come join us for our walk/job 5k training program designed to prepare you to participate in our 2nd Annual UHCL Take Flight 5K. Certified Personal Trainers will lead you through walk/jog intervals that will increase intensity throughout each session with the goal of preparing your cardiovascular system for race day. All fitness levels welcomed.

One complimentary Take Flight 5K registration included with the purchase of this small group training program. 5K Date: April 3rd 2022

  • Registration opens on Monday, Feb. 7 on RWConnect
  • Small Group Training Dates: March 1, 3, 8, 10, 22, 24, 29, & 31 from 11 a.m. to noon 
  • Location: Meet in the lobby of the RWC for each session
  • Cost: UHCL Students $30 / RWC Member $40
    • Includes one complimentary Take Flight 5k registration
    • Take Flight 5K event is scheduled for Sunday, April 3 starting at 8 a.m. at the UHCL RWC. More info to come about the 5K event.

PowerUp Lifting 

Description: Led by a certified personal trainer, participants will learn the basics of power lifting in a small group training format. This program is designed for intermediate to advanced fitness levels. At the completion of the program participants will receive a 6-week power lifting program designed to their fitness abilities.

  • Registration opens Monday, March 7 on RWConnect
  • Small Group Training Dates:  March 24 and 31, April 7 and  14 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Location: Meet in the RWC PT Suite but the entire RWC will be used
  • Cost: UHCL Students $20 / RWC Members $25

Body Mass Composition Testing

Description: Gain new insights with an in-depth bioelectrical analysis and report utilizing the Tanita TBF-400. The test measures your body composition and provides valuable information for meeting your fitness and wellness goals. Tanita's system has been extensively validated against other body composition measuring techniques and provides fast and accurate information. Measurements include fat, muscle, water, and weight. The test takes roughly 10-15 minutes and you will get results at the end of the test.

Cost: UHCL Students $5 / Non-Students $10

How to register using RWConnect

  1. Appointment scheduling is available starting January 20 through April 8 only.
  2. Log in to RWConnect using your username and password, or create your account if you don't have one
  3. Select 'Body Composition Test' 
  4. Select and register for any available time slot to schedule an appointment
  5. Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled time 

You can also schedule an appointment and purchase this in-person at our Member Services desk in RWC 203 during normal business hours.


Nutritional Consultations

For a limited time, Campus Recreation will offer basic nutrition consultations from January 20 through April 8. Nutrition Consultations are provided by our dietetic intern. These students have met required classes with acceptable grades, passed appropriate training, and have been overseen by a registered dietitian. 

Cost: UHCL Student $20 / RWC member $25

How to schedule a nutrition consultation:

  1. Submit an interest form to schedule a consultation (the link will take you to a Qualtrics Form).
  2. After submitting the interest form, you will then be contacted by email to schedule your appointment.
  3. Payment will be made at the time of your appointment in-person at the Member Services desk in RWC 203. Cash, credit card, or debit cards are accepted.
  4. All appointments will be conducted in RWC 203. 

Nutritional Resources

A variety of recipes and resources encourage healthy eating and provide fun and easy recipes for the UHCL student, employee and community members. Recipes range from eating healthy on a budget, vegan/vegetarian, allergy friendly and gluten free to those for the sport-specific athlete.
