Mission Statement

We are a caring and inclusive team who helps students to thrive in living-learning environments that promote relationship-building, academic excellence, and student engagement.  

Vision Statement

Student Housing and Residential Life strives to provide students with a "home away from home" experience where they are able to Live, Learn, and Engage.  

Goals

SHRL will develop a robust and comprehensive living-learning environment that supports student growth and success.

SHRL will offer work and volunteer opportunities designed to hone leadership skills and provide students with developmental experiences.

SHRL will facilitate and coordinate high-impact programs that focus on various aspects of student development and well-being.

SHRL will produce student staff training that is data-driven with research and evidence-based content consistent with regional and national best practices. 

SHRL will recruit new summer camps, conferences, interns, and guests each summer.

Learning Outcomes

Students will state community expectations and how to exercise responsibility for their community.

Students will establish healthy peer groups and strengthen group interaction skills through living on campus and participating in hall programming efforts.

Students will connect to the campus community and build positive UHCL spirit by engaging in various campus traditions and events.

Students will recall the effects and risks of drug and alcohol use, and other high-risk behaviors.

Students will describe academic and campus resources (i.e. Campus Recreation and Wellness, Career Services, etc.) in and outside of the residence hall.
