Dr. Hammad Rauf Khan serves as Executive Director of Institutional Research and Data Management Officer at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where he provides leadership in institutional research, data management, reporting, and data-informed decision-making. In this role, he leads efforts to strengthen the university’s data ecosystem, advance data governance and quality, ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements, and provide accurate, actionable information to support institutional planning and strategic decision-making.

Prior to joining the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Dr. Khan held data-focused leadership roles at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). There, he managed the institutional data repository, contributed to the development of the UTA Research Data Portal, and served as Vice Chair of the Texas Data Repository Steering Committee. His work has focused on data governance, data management, institutional reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen the use of data across higher education.

Dr. Khan is also committed to advancing data literacy and helping diverse audiences understand and effectively use data. He has taught data literacy workshops and is a certified Software Carpentries instructor. While pursuing his Ph.D., he was invited by his major professor to co-author Data Science for Librarians, a foundational textbook in the field, which was published before he completed his dissertation. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of North Texas.
