Biography

Christal Seahorn, Ph.D., serves as Associate Professor of Writing and Digital Rhetoric and Writing Program Director in the College of Human Sciences and Humanities at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She previously served as the inaugural First-Year Composition Director (2014-2018) and the Interim Associate Dean for the College of Human Sciences and Humanities (2020-2021). Seahorn earned her doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and a Master of Arts in English Renaissance Literature from the University of York, England. She received the 2017-2018 Marilyn Mieszkuc Professorship in Women's and Gender Studies and the 2020-2021 President's Distinguished Teaching Award. Her research areas include Digital Discourse Analysis, Writing Program Administration, and Activist Rhetorics, with concentrations on gender and pre-battle oratory. Her research appears in Queers in American Popular Culture, Folklore Forum, The Peer Review, and Narrative Culture.
