Career Paths and Levels

UHCL have two (2) Career Paths: Leader path and the Individual contributor path. The Leader path is for those individuals who manage an organizational area(s) and/or people; while the Individual Contributor path is for those individuals who contribute to the organization, but do not manage areas or people. Each job will be assigned one of these career paths and a career level.  The 13 career levels differ based on the level descriptors that reflect common attributes of jobs in the marketplace.

Career Levels are used to classify and differentiate jobs within the organizational hierarchy.  It represents the level of authority, expertise, size, scope, supervision, complexity of work, organizational impact, and responsibilities of the roles. Career levels help to define potential career journeys or paths they are aligned to career strategies including promotions or transfers within the job framework.
