UHCL graduate student wins American Fisheries Society scholarship award

The Texas Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) awarded Justin Hansen, a University of Houston-Clear Lake graduate student and Environmental Institute of Houston graduate research assistant, the Student Scholarship Award at the 2019 Southern Division AFS meeting in Galveston, Texas. The American Fisheries Society is an organization dedicated to strengthening the fisheries profession, advancing fisheries science, and conserving fisheries resources.

Hansen is pursuing a master’s degree in environmental science with an emphasis in biology. His thesis work involves evaluating spatial and temporal patterns of the American eel (Anguilla rostrata) in Texas.

The scholarship committee selected recipients based on their academic excellence, professional activities, promise of future professional involvement, and contributions to the field of fisheries science.
