Houston and Bay Area teachers were honored for their outstanding dedication to science and mathematics education by the University of Houston-Clear Lake School of Education/Environmental Institute of Houston and the Texas Regional Collaboratives at the annual Honoring the Teacher event. TRC, a statewide network of partnerships between institutions of higher education, school districts, business partners and the Texas Education Agency, provides sustained and high intensity professional development to teachers of science and mathematics in all grades. The teachers completed more than 105 hours of TRC training and are science or mathematics teacher mentors, taking content knowledge and skills they have learned back to their respective campuses, providing mentoring, technical assistance, peer coaching and leadership to other science and mathematics teachers in the district. Pictured (l to r) front: Monique Miles, Kim Bowers, Sheri Cole, Wende Bach: back, Liberty Corn, Sondra Cano, Jenna Campbell, Kacey Sommers, Kimberley Hernandez, Delphinia Denny, Angela Patterson, Alyssa Kritzler, Donald Becker, Julie Archer, Debi Schieb, and Lesley Jackson.
