Accreditation and Reporting

Counseling Accreditation

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the following program in the Department of Counseling, Special Education, and Diversity, College of Education at University of Houston-Clear Lake: Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.S.)

CACREP accredits master's and doctoral degree programs in counseling and its specialties that are offered by colleges and universities in the United States and throughout the world. Please visit the CACREP accreditation website to learn more.

University of Houston-Clear Lake's College of Education Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program has been granted accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP).


Early Childhood Accreditation

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Interdisciplinary Studies – Educator of Young Children and the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Care and Education at the University of Houston Clear Lake are accredited by the Commission on Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, 1313 L Street NW, Suite 500, Washington DC 20005.  (800) 424-4260 ext. 8007.  The accreditation term runs from July 2022 to December 2024. 

The NAEYC Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs awards accreditation to early childhood programs that demonstrate evidence of excellence by meeting the NAEYC Professional Preparation Standards.  UHCL's two Early Childhood Education degrees are among the first NAEYC Accredited bachelor's degrees in Texas. NAEYC Higher Education Program Early Childhood Seal

The B.S. in Early Childhood Care and Education and the Interdisciplinary Studies B.A.S. with a major in Early Childhood Education – Educator of Young Children degrees at the University of Houston-Clear Lake are accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The current accreditation term runs from July 2022 through July 2029.
