Hawk Advantage Scholarship

Making the Cost of a University Education More Affordable

The Hawk Advantage Scholarship offers need-based scholarships to recent high school graduates to help make the cost of a 4-year university affordable.

Application opens: August 2024

Deadline to apply: February 1, 2025


Need-Based Scholarships

Awards up to $2500/year
Renewable for an additional 3 years of your undergraduate program.

Total Commitment up to $10,000 (if renewal criteria is met)

In order to apply, student must:

  • Be Texas Resident
  • Be graduating from high school in the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Complete the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), by January 15, 2025, and be determined to have unmet need.
  • Attend UHCL for at least 12 hours per semester each fall and spring term
  • Admitted unconditionally to UHCL for the Fall 2025 term.

To be renewed:

  1. Student must be enrolled in 12 hours minimum at the census date for the term to receive the scholarship for the term.
  2. Students must complete at least 12 hours successfully at UHCL each semester to continue to receive the scholarship
  3. Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
  4. Remain in good academic standing.

Scholarships are based on unmet need. Not all students who apply will be awarded a scholarship.

Steps to Apply

  1. Please log into E-Services and click on "Admissions"
  2. Next click on "Apply for UHCL Scholarships". Do not fill in any information at this point
  3. Click "Search"
  4. Hawk Advantage Scholarship should pop up
  5. Do NOT click on "Apply"
  6. Click on "Details" to view the criteria
  7. Make sure you meet the criteria of the scholarship and prepare the required document before applying
  8. Next go back and click "Apply". The aid year you are applying for is "2026"
  9. Answer the questions and download your document
  10. Submit
  11. Once you click on "Apply" and submit the scholarship application you cannot go back to that specific scholarship so you must have documentation prepared before you "Apply".
  12. A confirmation will appear when the application is submitted.
