Deferring International Admission

Not coming this semester? Let us know!

Sometimes family and work obligations may cause a delay in your education plans. Regardless of the reason, let us know what your plans are.  To begin the process of deferring your application, fill out the electronic "Application Update Request Form" through your student E-Services Account. 

The "Application Update Request Form" is used to change:

  • The intended start semester (term)
  • The degree you wish to pursue
  • The degree-seeking status
  • Final Application Update Deadline
  • Fall
    June 15
  • Spring
    November 15 
  • Summer
    April 1

In some cases, you must submit a new application, application fee and application documents if:

  • You applied but did not enroll, and it has been more than a year since the intended start semester.
  • You are a UHCL graduating student or a UHCL alumni who desires to take additional courses after graduation or pursue a second degree.
  • You are an enrolled graduate student who desires to pursue a second degree simultaneously.
  • You have not been enrolled at UHCL for more than a year. (For example, you last attended fall 2018 and you want to return spring 2020).
  • You change your status from non degree-seeking to degree-seeking.
  • You want to change your application to a different degree level (i.e. undergraduate to graduate or vice versa)

How to Submit your Application Deferral/Update Request

  1. Access UHCL E-Services at go.uhcl.edu
  2. Enter your UHCL ID and password or your 7 digit ID and password
  3. Click on the Admissions tile
  4. Click on the INTL Student Defer Attendance link
  5. If you haven't already verified your address and security agreement page, you will see a pop-up. Submit the Agreement.
  6. Click on the Student Home button.
  7. Click on the Admissions tile again to access the form.
  8. The first part of the form will determine your eligibility. Select Yes or No to this question.
    1. If you select No, the additional form fields that are required will appear
    2. If you select Yes, it will direct you to complete a new application.
  9. If you are eligible to complete the form, the system will automatically include your name, ID, and address information. Go to the Application Update section.
  10. If you are updating your semester, you can select a term from the look-up.
  11. If you are update your major, you can select a major from the look-up.
  12. Complete the section "Have you attended any other college/university since your last application to UHCL?"
  13. Enter your initials and click Submit. 
  14. Once your form has been processed, you will receive an email notification of the decision.
