Once accepted to UHCL, students should contact their previous school to have their SEVIS record transferred to UHCL. Transfer forms are not required. UHCL's school code is HOU214F00500000.
After your SEVIS record has been released to UHCL, complete the F-1 Student Check In on the ISD Portal. You will upload your I-20 from your previous school, F-1 visa, valid Passport and most recent I-94.
If you are traveling outside the United States or need to renew your driver license before the beginning of classes, please contact your international student adviser for next steps. Otherwise, you will receive your transfer completed I-20 within 2 weeks after the start of the semester.
Transferring Out
General Guidance for All
Students can request the transfer out in the ISD Portal as early as they want. The adviser can set up the transfer out date in advance in SEVIS and it will automatically be released just after midnight on the date chosen, if it’s not being transferred on the date processed.
Your transfer-in school will not be able to issue you a new I-20 before the transfer release date.
New program must begin within 5 months of the end of a semester with UHCL or within 5 months of the end of an EAD.
If you decide to cancel your transfer out request, you must notify intladvising@uhcl.edu before your transfer release date.
