The administration and academic leaders have developed cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship, thanks to a shared vision for excellence and sustained growth. UHCL Administration

Administrative and academic leadership of UHCL comprises three primary units:

  • Office of the President – The public face of the university, while providing the necessary leadership for all activities, goals and directives.
  • Academic Affairs and Provost – The leading voice for the faculty and students in all academic matters and concerns
  • Administration and Finance – The driver for day-to-day operations related to budget, human resources, campus safety and more

As the fourth president of UHCL, Dr. William A. Staples has led the university through unparalleled success since he assumed the role 1995. Active at UHCL since 1979, his leadership and vision are responsible for our expansion from an upper-level to a four-year university, the establishment of UHCL Pearland Campus with the City of Pearland, a robust endowment and capital campaigns that lay a stout foundation for future growth. President’s Profile

Dr. A. Glen Houston serves as interim provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs and presides over key functions at UHCL, the most important being his relationship with the deans of the four colleges as they lead the school towards student success. He also serves as a Professor of Computer Science and Statistics in the College of Science and Engineering. Provost’s Profile

In 2017, Jean Carr was named the interim vice president for administration and finance. Her primary responsibilities include organization of all matters financial and operational for the campus.
