The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education

The AASHE's mission is "to inspire and catalyze higher education to lead the global sustainability transformation."

Its Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) ranks universities and colleges on their self-reported sustainability efforts. The rankings show how member institutions compare, but more importantly, provide emulatable best practices and generate new ideas.

Higher Education Sustainability Initiative

The Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI), a partnership between United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, UNESCO, United Nations Environment, UN Global Compact's Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative, United Nations University (UNU), UN-HABITAT, UNCTAD and UNITAR, was created in 2012.

Through its association with the United Nations, HESI provides higher education institutions with a unique interface between higher education, science, and policymaking.
