We welcome you to your first year at UHCL and we're happy to offer you orientation
programs to help you find your way around campus and to make sure you have a fun,
exciting transition to life as a Hawk. Our Orientation Programs are required for all
of our incoming first-year, transfer and international students. We also encourage
you to participate in our various New Student Programs. All of our programs are designed
to help you make the most of your years at UHCL. Through engaging with our office
you will learn more about UHCL, connect with campus resources, and most of all, you’ll
meet other students and find our Hawk pride and spirit!
Students eligible to register for SOAR must, at the time of their admission, either:
- Have between 0 - 29 credit hours, or
- Be entering college for the first time.
At SOAR incoming first-year students will meet their peers, connect with student leaders, learn about campus resources and prepare for the upcoming semester.
Students eligible to register for TSO must:
- Have 30 or more credit hours.
At TSO, students are introduced to faculty and staff, new and current students, and administrative professionals. By attending, students gain a broad overview of university policies, expectations and available resources.

New International Student Orientation is your first chance to experience all that UHCL has to offer its students. Attendance is mandatory for all undergraduate international students and for all F-1 and J-1 international graduate students. You will receive valuable information to help your transition to UHCL and life in the United States.
Discover all UHCL has to offer. New Student Programs such as Hawk Launch and Weeks of Welcome (WOW) offer opportunities to continue developing, growing and having enriching, dynamic experiences.
