Professional Development

Charge

The Professional Development Committee researches and coordinates learning opportunities for all staff members within the Division that align with the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs and promote the holistic growth of UHCL students. The committee will prioritize opportunities, where staff can learn and share their knowledge and experiences with the entire UHCL committee, focusing on trends in higher education, student development, professional growth and other themes tied to the student success, development and achievement.

Assessment

Charge

The Assessment Committee is charged with supporting the assessment efforts of the Director of Assessment including, but not limited to, the systematic collection, review, and use information about the effectiveness of the services and programs provided by each unit comprising the Division of Student Affairs for the purpose of improving student learning and development, student involvement (campus connectedness), and ensuring best practices in student affairs.

Marketing and Communications

Charge

The Marketing and Communications Committee develops and implements strategies for internal and external communication initiatives using emerging media and for advancing programs and services by exploring innovative ways to use technology.  In addition, the Marketing and Communications Committee also works to maintain the DSA brand and is charged with presenting a comprehensive marketing plan for the Division on an annual basis.

Special Events and Traditions 

Charge

The Special Events and Traditions Committee oversees the coordination, planning and implementation of all division-wide events including, but not limited to, the Student Affairs Awards and Recognition Program, Weeks of Welcome, and the UHCL Four Pillars of Student Success Annual Reception. The committee will also oversees Divisional recognition efforts and programs/activities related to promoting school spirit and strengthening campus traditions.

Employee Appreciation

Charge

The Employee Appreciation Committee oversees the coordination, planning and implementation of all division-wide employee (not student staff) appreciation events. The committee will also oversees Divisional recognition efforts and programs/activities related to improving morale for staff.
