Biography

Maria I. Wilson, Ed.D., LMSW, LVN, brings more than 12 years of administrative and programmatic experience with federal and private grants in the content area of mental health, trauma-informed care, substance use (with a focus in harm reduction), wellness and wellbeing in the context of HIV/AIDS.

A first-generation college graduate and immigrant from Mexico, Dr. Wilson has worked with Latinx communities for the past two decades. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in social work and mentored students in their internships.

Dr. Wilson is a proud Hawk alum, completing her undergraduate degree in social work at UHCL. She received her MSW degree from the University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work and her doctorate in education, focusing in health sciences, from the University of Houston College of Education.
