The Environmental Institute of Houston is offering two courses on surface water quality monitoring, which may serve as the required biennial Clean Rivers Program training for monitoring partners. EIH's team brings extensive field experience, having worked with both EPA and TCEQ standard procedures. Course attendees will be provided with all necessary reference materials and will receive a certificate of completion upon finishing the course.
Online Refresher
The online refresher session is designed for current monitoring partners who need to maintain their biennial training requirements. This session reviews key protocols but does not include any hands-on fieldwork.
In-Person Course
The in-person session is intended for new monitoring partners or those who need to meet program training requirements due to a lapsed status. This option includes classroom instruction along with hands-on fieldwork in local streams and bayous. The in-person course is held at the University of Houston-Clear Lake campus.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds are not made for early dismissal, failure to attend, absences, or sick days. Refunds less a 15% fee will be made if your registration is canceled by February 9, 2026. No refund will be made for registration cancellation after February 9, 2026.

Lodging is not included as part of course registration. There are many options nearby for lodging.
Mandi Gordon
Mandi Gordon is the Interim Associate Director of Research Programs at the Environmental Institute of Houston and has been participating in the Clean Rivers Program since 2011. She has participated in various aquatic life monitoring projects as a field team leader, assisting in data compilation and report writing. Mandi has also served as a national trainer for the Environmental Protection Agency's 2018 National Rivers and Streams Assessment.
