Jabber Client

Jabber is an application on your computer or cell phone that enables you to make and receive calls to/from your office phone number without using the desktop phone in your office. It is especially useful for making and receiving work-related calls using your cell phone without having to share your personal cell phone number with anyone. 

If you would like this application, please contact OIT’s Support Center via email at supportcenter@uhcl.edu or by phone at 281-283-2828. You can also submit a help ticket via the Self-Service Portal.

If you use a desktop computer and do not have a microphone, you need to purchase a microphone or a headset with a microphone before using Jabber. If you don’t want to make and receive calls through your computer, you can use your cell phone instead. The Jabber Client app is available from the Apple Store or Android Market.
