Equipment Checkout

The Support Center and Academic Computing Labs have a small inventory of laptops available to students, faculty and staff.  For faculty and staff, equipment checkout items also include  clickers, projectors, portable screens, and microphones.

The Support Center has a small inventory of laptop computers available for checkout to students without charge.

Checkout Locations

These laptops are configured identically and are available at the following locations on campus:

  • The UCT Support Center - Bayou Building, Room 2300
  • The UCT Academic Computing Open Labs
      • Bayou Building, Room 3608
      • Delta Building, Room 205
      • Student Services and Classroom Building (SSCB), Room 2201
      • Pearland Campus, Room 104

Checkout Procedure

  • Present your current UHCL ID at any one of our checkout locations.
  • Read and sign the UCT laptop checkout User Agreement form.
  • Login to the laptop using your UHCL login and password, and make certain all programs/settings are available and working.

Other Information

  • Laptop checkout is limited, checkouts occur on a first come first serve basis.
  • Your UHCL ID is kept until the return of the laptop.
  • Laptop checkouts are for on-campus use only.
  • Laptops are checked out for 3 hours, or the life of the battery (whichever comes first).
  • All laptops must be returned 30 minutes prior to check-out location's closing time.
  • The student is responsible for the laptop up to the full purchase price ($2,300), if damaged, lost, or stolen.
  • Failure to comply with established rules and guidelines will result in loss of laptop checkout privileges. 
  • The UHCL wireless network is available in classroom buildings: Arbor, Bayou, Delta, Pearland, and the SSCB.
  Faculty, Staff, and Student Organizations
 

The Support Center has a small inventory of laptop computers and multimedia equipment available for checkout to faculty and staff. A phone call or email to the Support Center is all that is necessary to reserve equipment. Walk-ins are always welcome too!

Checkout Procedure

Email supportcenter@uhcl.edu or come to the Support Center in Bayou 2300 to make your reservation and discuss your equipment needs. Please provide us with the following information when making your reservation:

  • Your Full Name
  • Student or Employee ID Number
  • Pick Up Date and Time
  • Return Date and Time
  • Building and Room Location you will be using the equipment (if applicable).

Other Information 

  • Students checking out equipment on behalf of a student or academic organization can make the reservation under their name as long as the equipment can be returned during Support Center business hours.  Otherwise, the equipment must be checked under the name of the group's advisor and the advisor will be responsible for the safe return of the equipment when the Support Center re-opens. 
  • Student organizations cannot take university equipment off campus.  
  • If the equipment reservations require any kind of support from the Support Center or Technical Services staff, arrangements should be made at least one week in advance to provide appropriate support.
