Dr. Michael joined University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2004 after several years as
an assistant professor at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He earned
his MBA at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and taught there before earning
his doctorate. His professional experience includes several years as an financial
analyst in the commercial mortgage industry in Charlotte and as manager of a computer
He currently teaches graduate Corporate Finance and Commercial Banking along with Financial Statements and Seminar in Finance. He researches corporate governance, compensation, financial institutions, and fixed-income securities, and he has a casebook published by Pearson-Prentice Hall.
Dr. Michael is the editor of Journal of Finance Case Research, and serves as Executive Director of the Financial Education Association (jfedweb.org).
