Michael Lacina is a Professor and has been the Department Chair of Accounting at University of Houston-Clear Lake since 2016. He received a Ph.D. with a concentration in Accounting from Purdue University, an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from Michigan State University, and a B.B.A. in Accounting from Western Michigan University. Also, he is a licensed C.P.A. in Michigan and worked as an accountant for a furniture company that was headquartered in Detroit. He teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the areas of financial and managerial accounting and is the faculty advisor for the Department of Accounting’s student internship program. Dr. Lacina’s research interests include the areas of financial accounting and corporate finance. His papers have been published in Journal of Accounting Research, Advances in Accounting, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of International Accounting Research, Journal of International Financial Management & Accounting, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, and other quality journals. He has given professional presentations to UTMB’s Physician Leadership Academy and to the Texas Society of CPAs.
