Advanced Math Placement Test (AMPT)

The Advanced Math Placement test is designed for the students who believe they are prepared to begin taking college math at a level higher than college algebra.  Successful completion of the test results in placement in advanced math courses, depending on major.

ATI TEAS®

ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a diagnostic test that students take as they go through the admissions process. The TEAS show a reliable picture of student preparedness for nursing school and provides valuable insights into their academic strengths and weaknesses. Log in to www.atitesting.com using your ATI username and password and select the online store. Then choose “Register for the TEAS with PSI” (a testing center) and select UHCL Testing Center.

Cost: $50 (payable directly to ATI) & $35 admin fee (payable to UHCL)
Length of the exam: 209 minutes
Days & Times Available: By appointment on Monday - Friday

College-Level Entrance Program (CLEP)

CLEP is a national program of credit by examination that allows students the opportunity to demonstrate college-level knowledge for specific undergraduate courses.  It is designed to assess knowledge gained through accelerated, advanced or honors high school classes, as well as independent study. Cost: $85 (payable directly to CLEP) & $20 admin fee (payable to UHCL)
Length of the exam: 90 minutes

Availability of Test Scores:  Unofficial test results are available upon completion (except for College Composition Modular Exams).

DSST (formerly known as DANTES Subject Standardized Test)

Through a series of 38 exams in several subject areas, the nationally recognized DSST program allows students to earn college credits for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom (UHCL does not offer credit for DSST exams).

DSST is an approved VA National Testing Program under the Post 9/11 GI Bill®. The VA will reimburse the DSST exam fee ($80-$90) and the testing center administrative fee (amount varies per location).

Availability of Test Scores: Examinee will have the option to see his/her preliminary score at the end of the test.  Within 3-4 weeks, official scores are sent by DSST to the institution indicated by the examinee by the institution's 4-digit DSST code at the time beginning of the exam.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

The Graduate Record Examination, or GRE, is an important step in the graduate school or business school application process. The GRE is a multiple-choice, computer-based, standardized exam that is often required for admission to graduate programs and graduate business programs (MBA) globally. Cost: $205 (payable directly to ETS) 
Length of the exam: 3 hours and 45 minutes

Availability of Test Scores: Scores will be available in your ETS Account and sent to your score recipients approximately 10–15 days after your test date.

G-SUITE

A Google Cloud certification in G Suite signals to employers that you possess the digital skills to work collaboratively and productively in a professional environment. By earning the G Suite certification, you prove your ability to complete common workplace activities using cloud-based tools to create and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and files.

Law School Admissions Test (LSAT)

The LSAT is an integral part of the admission process into law school. The exam is used to measure skills that are considered essential for success in law school such as reading and verbal. For additional information visit the Law School Admission Council website at www.lsac.org 

Miller Analogy Test (MAT)

The Miller Analogy Test (MAT) is a high-level ability exam that help graduate schools identify candidates. Through analogies with content from various academic subjects, this analytical thinking exam is used for admissions into graduate school.  For additional information concerning the MAT, please visit their website at www.milleranalogies.com.

Cost: $78.50
Length of the exam: 60 minutes
Days & Times Available: Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Friday from 8:30 – Noon
Availability of Test Scores: Examinee will have the option to see his/her preliminary score at the end of the test.  The Official Score Report will be mailed by Harcourt Assessment, Inc. takes approximately 10 - 15 business days.

Proctoring Services for Non-UHCL students

For students attending other institutions, proctoring of college course and certain licensure exams is available.   Prior arrangements are required; no walk-ins.  It is the students responsibility to inform their home institution they have designated University of Houston Clear Lake Testing Center as their proctor and request that all materials/information (proctor instructions, links, passwords, etc.) for the test be sent prior to the appointment.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI)

The TSI Assessment is a helpful resource for incoming students to have a successful start in college by determining the appropriate course placement.  It is a not an admissions test, but a placement test designed to assess math, reading, and writing skill levels.

Cost:  $38.50 for initial test; $15.50 per section for retest
Length of the exam: varies (untimed exam with maximum of 4 hours) 
Days & Times Available: By appointment on Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and  Fridays at 8:30 a.m.
Availability of Test Scores: Test results are available upon completion.
