Protect the Environment and Drive Innovation
Worrying about the environment isn't just for the eco-friendly and non-profits any more. Many top industries have redefined success to encompass a "triple bottom line" theory that views social and environmental profit to be as vital an objective as economic profit.
With a an MBA with a Concentration in Sustainability from University of Houston-Clear Lake's College of Business, you will have a leg up compared to your peers, as you'll be able to discuss legal, economic and strategic concerns related to how a business can become more environmentally friendly
An Education that’s Convenient for Your Career
Many of our students work full-time jobs while pursuing an MBA, so we've taken this reality into account with how we've crafted this 36 credit-hour degree*. You now have options in how you attend UHCL, though it does depend on each 16-week-long course you take:
- Completely online classes;**
- The "hybrid" format where half the class time is face-to-face, while and the other half is online;** or
- Completely in a traditional classroom experience.**
Qualified candidates can even earn a waiver from taking the GRE or GMAT!
*One pre-requisite foundation course may be required.
**Required MBA coursework is available completely online or in hybrid format in 8-week
sessions. Some of the classes required for the sustainability concentration are available
in full-semester length in online format.
A Career-Focused Education
The coursework will be taught exclusively by professors and experience businesspersons – no graduate assistants for you. You'll learn about key models and theories as well as research and application projects that tackle issues confronting sustainable communities, environmental management and strategic management. The program seeks to integrate the perspectives of multiple stakeholders and actors impacted by the pursuit of sustainable economies, while integrating the associated business managerial challenges and opportunities. It is designed for graduate students seeking to practice a career in environmental consultancy or environmental compliance responsibility.
