Safety Training

The Environmental, Health and Safety Department offers a variety of safety training courses through different methods including in person, online, videos, and blackboard. We offer these classes not just for regulatory requirements, but also to enrich our employee's knowledge and awareness of risks to empower a safe and healthy work atmosphere, and ensure that everyone goes home better than they came in, without incident.

EHS Training

  • Safety Training Offered: This is a list of Safety Training Classes that are available through EHS by either in person, video loan, or online. Contact us to schedule a Training class, borrow materials, for questions or additional needs.
  • There are several training courses available in Blackboard, including Lab Safety Training for students, TA's, and lab topics such as Autoclave, Disinfection, and Blood Borne Pathogens, Waste handling, Laser safety or Radioisotopes Awareness/Refresher, and X-ray analytical equipment training.  See also the training section on the Lab Safety page for more information. 

SORM Driving Safety Training

  • All UHCL employees who drive any kind campus vehicle (golf cart, lift truck, cars, trucks vans, etc) are required to take Driving Safety Training. This does not include your personal vehicle that you may use for work related tasks.
  • The Driving Safety certificate is valid for three years unless you're involved in an accident, then you are required to take the next available course.
  • SORM offers Driving Safety Training every first Tuesday and third Thursday of each month via zoom. SORM Login
