UHCL Archives & Special Collections

Founded in 1989, the University of Houston-Clear Lake Archives and Special Collections' serves as the primary repository for historically valuable, original archival materials that document the origins, development, activities, and achievements of the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and its affiliated centers and subunits.

The Archives' guiding duty is to serve as a research center for the study of history and institutional memory of the University, and to promote knowledge and understanding of its origins, programs, goals, and accomplishments.

The UHCL Archives & Special Collections supports the University's mission of educational excellence by collecting, preserving, and providing access to primary historic sources within our main collecting areas and collections: University Archives, Human Space Flight Collection, Clear Lake Area Collection, and NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) History Collection.

These archives materials are open for research to UHCL students, alumni, faculty, staff and the general public. The Archives also maintains a Space History Book Reference Collection within its public reading room, featuring unique books, government documents, and other publications on the topic of human space flight history and operations.


The UHCL Archives is open for office hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Our public research hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, by appointment.
