National Coastal Condition Assessment

Purpose/Objectives

To better address questions about the nation's coastal resources, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is facilitating a multi-agency effort called the National Coastal Condition Assessment (NCCA). EIH is contracted to complete the national survey for all sites in Texas and Louisiana in the summer of 2020.

Description

In the summer of 2020, EIH will sample a total of 138 sites in the bays, estuaries, and nearshore waters along the western Gulf Coast. This sampling is part of the NCCA, a probabilistic survey designed and implemented by the EPA. Condition indicators sampled included water quality, sediment, benthic macroinvertebrates, and fish. EIH has previously participated in the 2015 NCCA by sampling 55 sites and 53 sites for the 2010 NCCA.
