Heather Hinchliffe worked as a freshwater ecology field technician for the Environmental Institute of Houston at University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2023. She earned a bachelor's degree in aquatic biology from Texas State University in 2022. During undergrad, Heather worked with the habitat field crew at the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment to remove invasive species and restore native habitat in the San Marcos River. Since graduation, she has worked with the National Parks Service at Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland on a vegetation management team, and subsequently on the Natural Resources Management Program team at the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. In her free time, she is out exploring new places or baking cookies at home.
