Biography
Dr. Kim Martin-Long was appointed Interim Dean of the College of Education in June
2025 at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Dr. Martin-Long brings a wealth of experience
in higher education leadership, having served more than 12 years as a dean at multiple
institutions. Most recently, she has been serving as Interim Dean of the College of
Public Service at the University of Houston–Downtown. Her previous experience includes
leadership roles at the University of New Orleans, Delaware Valley University, and
Shippensburg University. Prior to her roles in higher education, Dr. Martin-Long taught
in the Irving Independent School District in Texas for 14 years.
With extensive experience in academic planning, budget management, organizational
management, and large-scale student success initiatives, Dr. Martin-Long's academic
and administrative career reflects a deep commitment to excellence, innovation, and
collaborative leadership. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in English from the University
of North Texas and a B.A. in English with Teacher Certification from North Texas State
University.
