Ashley Anglin, Ph.D.

Dr. Ashley E. Anglin is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Counseling, counselor educator, and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor whose career spans more than 17 years of clinical practice, behavioral health leadership, supervision, and counselor education. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Holy Cross, master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, and undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from Houston Baptist University.

At the heart of Dr. Anglin’s work is the connection between what counselors learn and how they practice. Her clinical career has included inpatient and residential treatment, managed behavioral health, outpatient care, crisis intervention, clinical supervision, and private practice. She is the founder and Clinical Director of Bridging the Gap Psychcare, where she provides psychotherapy and supervises emerging counselors and practicum students. Her clinical experience includes work with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and relationship concerns.

Dr. Anglin’s impact extends beyond the classroom and therapy room. She has developed behavioral health curricula and facilitated programs addressing trauma, domestic violence, caregiver burnout, couples in crisis, and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. Her systems-level experience includes contributing to a national Blue Cross Blue Shield/Anthem initiative designed to integrate mental and physical health care, improve patient outcomes, and reduce hospital readmissions.

As a counselor educator, Dr. Anglin brings the depth of her clinical experience directly into the preparation of future counselors. Her work includes graduate instruction, clinical supervision, curriculum development, assessment of counseling competencies, and mentorship of emerging professionals. She places particular emphasis on ethical decision making, professional identity, and helping students translate counseling theory into thoughtful, effective clinical practice. Her service to the profession also includes work as a proposal reviewer and Social Media Liaison for the Law & Ethics in Counseling Conference.

Dr. Anglin’s professional and scholarly interests center on counseling ethics, anxiety, and depression, with an emphasis on the intersection of counselor education, clinical practice, and community mental health. Whether in the classroom, supervision, clinical practice, or the community, her work is grounded in one purpose: developing counselors who are clinically prepared, ethically grounded, and ready to make a meaningful impact in the profession and in the lives of those they serve.
