Acceptable Use Policy
All accounts are subject to UHCL's Acceptable Use Policy. Students should familiarize themselves with this policy before using any account.
Student Email accounts are automatically created on the PCLAB Domain once you are accepted at UHCL. Accounts are automatically renewed for Fall and Spring semester through re-enrollment at UHCL. Use the ID Lookup Tool to find your username. Your username begins with your last name, the first initial of your first name and a random 4-digit number. Your email address will be your firstname.lastname@example.org.
Passwords are "p + your student ID number + $" (ex: p1234567$). This number is on the back of your student ID card. Log on to Webmail with your username. Specify the domain of "pclab\" in front of your username. Example: pclab\SmithT1234. Make sure you are using the backslash and not the forward slash.
Student accounts will expire approximately 1.5 years after a student stops attending
UHCL. Student accounts will be permanently deleted approximately 1.5 years after
the account expires. If a student returns to UHCL before the account is deleted, the
account will be automatically
- Must be at least 8 characters long
- Must not contain any part of your first or last name
- Must contain 3 of these 4 criteria:
- Upper-case Letters
- Lower-case Letters
Student account passwords NEVER expire. If you somehow get locked out of your account, please allow 30 minutes for your account to be systematically unlocked or you can contact the Support Center during our open hours to unlock your account.
Student Worker Logins
Students employed by UHCL will have an account auto-generated. Accounts will be expired based on the termination date determined by the hiring department. Find your username, create a password, and set up your challenge questions. Access to file shares and Blackboard will always be granted to the staff account, not the student account.
Student Organization Email Accounts
Officers of student organizations can request a computer login and email account for the organization by completing the Account Application form on behalf of the organization. Approval from Student Life is required.
Accounts expire at the end of the semester or whenever a new officer is elected for the organization. Account Passwords CANNOT be shared. Doing so violates UHCL's Acceptable Use Policy. Accounts are renewable each term.
Blackboard accounts are automatically created once a student is admitted to UHCL and registered in an online course. This login is the same as the username and password used for logging on to on-campus computers or your UHCL email account. Use the ID Lookup Tool to find your username. Initially, passwords are set to "p + your student ID number + $" (ex: p1234567$). Your student ID number can be found on the back of your student ID card. If you don't know your ID number, please call the Student Assistance Center at 281-283-2722. For online course support, contact the UCT Support Center at 281-283-2828.
Oracle accounts are requested by the instructor for your entire class prior to the beginning of each semester. To access Oracle login to any Lab computer, Open Oracle, click on SQL Plus, then at the command prompt type in "/@stu" The SQL> prompt will then appear.
Unix accounts are automatically created for all students registered for Computer Science and Software Engineering courses. Unix account support is provided by the College of Science and Engineering.
