About OIT

Under the leadership of Dr. LeeBrian E. Gaskins, the Senior Associate Vice President for the Office of Information Technology (OIT), the mission of the Office of Information Technology is to enhance teaching through technology, expand learning opportunities, enable research, and employ innovative administrative solutions.

Teams include:

• OIT Support Center: Serves as the initial point of contact for any IT campus technology-related inquiries, provides Tier 1 support, and directs questions and issues to the most appropriate OIT units via a work order ticket system
• Technical Services: Supports the IT resources for faculty and staff
• Academic Computing:  Supports the IT resources for all general-purpose teaching labs, open labs, classrooms, and the Neumann Library open-access computers, as well as all audio-visual technology on campus 
• Instructional Design and Technology: Course design/development and instructional technology consulting
• Systems Administration: Manages access to campus enterprise applications and related hardware
• Infrastructure and Networking: Maintains networks, Wi-Fi, telephones, and coordinates OIT-related support for campus construction
• Database Operations & Applications Development: Develops and maintains customer UHCL applications and supports database administration
• Project Management Office: Partners with UHCL business units on any projects that include technology-related components
• Information Security Office: Serves as the point of contact for all information security needs
