Hawk Mentorship Program: Mentee Information
The Hawk Mentorship Program is a collaboration between UHCL's Center for Career Development and Alumni Relations.
After a successful pilot program in 2025, we're thrilled to launch the inaugural full program in the 2025-2026 academic year. The Hawk Mentorship Program bridges generations of excellence by connecting current students with accomplished alumni Your mentorship can empower students to create a game plan for the year ahead, explore career possibilities and even begin to build their network.
How It Works

- Get Matched – We pair participants based on shared interests, career goals and availability.

Why join the Hawk Mentorship Program?
Reasons to be an Mentee:

Are there any prerequisites to be a mentee?
Students must be in good academic standing (gpa of 2.0 or higher).
What is expected of me as a mentee?
Upon your selection as a mentee, you commit to the mentorship program from October 2025 until June 2026. We require at least one meaningful meeting each month, but you can meet more often if you’d like. Additionally,
- Be receptive and open-minded, ready to actively listen and learn.
- Share your experiences honestly—your journey can inspire and connect.
Invest time and energy in nurturing the mentoring relationship. - Uplift and support your mentor too; encouragement goes both ways.
- Lead by example in attitude, effort, and integrity.
Do I have to be in the Clear Lake area to participate?
You do not have to be in the Clear Lake area to participate. Virtual platforms have made it possible to engage from a far, and we'll work to match you with a mentor willing to engage virtually.
How will a match be made?
We'll carefully match you with an alumnus whose background aligns with your unique preferences—factoring in your interests and career aspirations. In some cases, matches may also be based on shared majors, industries, geographic location, and more.
Are events mandatory?
While attendance is optional, we strongly encourage you to take part in events that spark your interest or support your mentorship experience. These gatherings offer valuable opportunities to connect with fellow mentees and other mentors—and a great chance to sharpen your networking skills along the way.
What if I need to withdraw from the program?
We understand that things may happen, so you will be requited to notify the Center for Career Development staff and your mentor that you will no longer be able to participate in the program.
