About the UHCL Class Ring
When a student receives the ring as an undergraduate, they wear it with the logo facing the heart to inspire and motivate academic success. Tradition is not just about what each class receives from UH-Clear Lake, but rather about what they leave behind. Upon graduation, as new alumni move the tassel on their caps from left to right, they should turn their rings so that the UHCL faces outward. The official UHCL class ring then becomes a visible, tangible symbol of the ever-present bond between UHCL and its graduates.
Class Ring FAQs
The UHCL Class Ring is a symbol of tradition that connects you to the thousands of alumni who have walked this path before you. This ring is more than a marker of academic achievement. It reflects the perseverance, growth, and joy you’ve experienced during your time here. It represents your commitment to UHCL—and the university’s commitment to you. It signifies that you’ve met the academic standards to wear it proudly.
You are eligible to order a UHCL Class Ring once you are classified as at least a junior. Masters and Doctoral students may order a ring at any time during their study.
Depending on the style you chose, your ring may have the university’s seal, a coat of arms flanked by martlets which symbolize peace and deliverance, and greyhounds which symbolize speed. A winged hourglass and the motto “In time” sit atop the coat of arms. Your graduation year, degree, our founding year 1974, our Hawk mascot, or UHCL may also be featured to remind you of your time here.
The best time to order is during Ring Week, which is typically held around the third or fourth week of the semester (check the ring website for exact dates and times). During Ring Week, Herff Jones representatives are on campus with ring samples and will help you decide on design and ring size. This will also guarantee that your ring will arrive in time for the UHCL Ring Ceremony.
