Faculty-Led Programs

Not ready to spend an entire semester in another country, but you’re still curious about a Study Abroad opportunity? You should really participate in a faculty-led program with University of Houston-Clear Lake! Typically held during the summer, you’ll spend anywhere between a week and a month on a guided tour of a different international location under the supervision and tutelage of a UHCL faculty member.

Fees and details for each program differ, based upon the destination and terms of the educational experience, so be sure contact the advising faculty member for more information.

Purpose and Learning Objectives of the International Arts Consortium Course

The Facultad de Artes Plastica at Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico has collaborated with UHCL Arts Program for more than 15 years. Their extensive arts programming in creative and artistic work is outstanding and this opportunity is a valuable academic and artistic experience. UHCL students engage and collaborate with the arts faculty and students in Xalapa in drawing, printmaking, photography, graphics and gallery arts administration.

You will complete a series of works in your area of study at the beginning of the semester. Electronic images of those works are presented to the art faculty and students at Universidad Veracruzana for study. You will also research Mexican artists in your field of art, as information about and images created by your selected artist(s) will provide crucial cultural identity and imagery for your studies.

Contact Professor of Fine Arts Sandria Hu for more information.
