Add the PK-3 Endorsement to Your Current Elementary Teaching Certificate

The Early Childhood: PreKindergarten - Grade 3 Endorsement is an option for teachers who hold valid Texas teaching certificate in a certificate category found in Texas Administrative Code and have demonstrated understanding of EC -3 Preschool through Grade 3 content knowledge. 

Candidates for this plan must complete 150 clock hours (10 university course credits) of Educator Preparation Program (EPP) coursework aligned to the EC: PK-3 educator standards, including the Science of Teaching Reading (STR) standards. A clinical teaching or internship assignment is not required. In addition, candidates must pass the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities exam (160), the Early Childhood: PK-3 exam (292), and the Science of Teaching Reading exam (293) to earn the EC-3 certification.
