Our Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Care and Education program, unique in its emphasis on childhood care and education from birth through age five, is designed to equip you with the knowledge and hands-on experiences necessary to excel as a leader in early childhood care.
Setting the Table for Success
A child's early years are critical in all levels of development, including social,
emotional, language, and cognitive abilities. With a Bachelor of Science in Early
Childhood Care and Education from UHCL, you can learn the best methods to prepare
a child for success in elementary school. Your courses will focus on infants, toddlers,
math, science, literacy, cultural awareness, special needs, and other crucial topics
that will help you play a critical role in a child's early education.
Upon completion of our fully accredited Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Care
and Education program, you'll be well-prepared for a variety of rewarding career paths
in early childhood programs such as Head Start, Early Head Start, or other early care
and education programs and agencies where a Texas EC-6 Teacher Certification is not
required.

NAEYC Higher Education Program Early Childhood Seal The B.S. in Early Childhood Care
and Education and the Interdisciplinary Studies B.A.S. with a major in Early Childhood
Education – Educator of Young Children degrees at the University of Houston-Clear
Lake are accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher
Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The current accreditation term runs from July 2022 through July 2029.
