The Graduate Certificate in Art History at University of Houston-Clear Lake gives students the opportunity to complete focused graduate coursework in art history while pursuing or building on a master’s degree in another field.
This 18-hour certificate is designed for students seeking additional subject-area credentials in art history. When combined with a master’s degree in any field, the certificate helps complete the graduate coursework commonly required to teach dual-credit or community college art history courses in Texas.
Study Art, Culture and Visual History Across Traditions
At UHCL, art history courses are offered through the Humanities program and may carry
either the HUMN or ARTS rubric. Students work with faculty or an HSH advisor to identify
approved courses with an art history subject and focus.

Admission Requirements
Students currently enrolled in the Humanities M.A. program may meet with an HSH advisor to add the certificate to their degree plan. Students who are not currently enrolled may apply through the appropriate graduate admissions process.
Certificate Requirements
The Graduate Certificate in Art History requires 18 graduate credit hours.
Students complete approved graduate coursework in art history through the Humanities and Art History curriculum.

New, non-degree seeking, and returning UHCL students applying after the deadlines above may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the appropriate graduate enrollment counselor for more information. A $50.00 Late Registration Fee or $50.00 Late Payment may apply.
