Expand Your Knowledge of Africa’s Past, Present and Future

The minor in Africana Studies at the University of Houston-Clear Lake includes courses that explore the experience of peoples of African descent both in Africa and the diaspora. These classes also explore the diverse cultural and social practices that form the unique identities among the different African and African diaspora populations in the Americas and around the globe.

Strengthen Your Scholarly Skills

This course of study encompasses several different programs and departments within the College of Human Sciences and Humanities. You will discuss topics related to historical, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives on race, racism, colonialism and contemporary issues relevant to African and African diaspora populations. Africana Studies Minor

Students wishing to declare the Minor in Social Work must meet with an Academic Advisor in the HSH Advising Office to complete the necessary paperwork and to have the Minor added to their degree plan.
