Biography

Dr. Nataliya Markina joined the University of Houston-Clear Lake faculty in 2019 as a visiting assistant professor of chemistry. In the fall of 2021, she became a lecturer of chemistry. She received a B.S./M.S. in Chemistry from Higher Chemical College of Russian Academy of Sciences in 2008 and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Iowa State University in 2012. Her research is focused on developing novel synthetic methodologies for the synthesis of small heterocyclic molecules and applying the developed methods to the synthesis of combinatorial libraries. Dr. Markina is one of the co-authors of the third edition of the chemistry reference Comprehensive Organic Transformations (edited by R. C. Larock), published in 2018.
