When Life Gets Stressful
The Psychological Services Clinic at University of Houston-Clear Lake is a training clinic for graduate programs in clinical psychology, family therapy, and school psychology. The clinic serves the community by providing mental health services to individuals, families, and couples. We treat a variety of disorders, with expertise in depression, anxiety, and behavior problems. Treatment often includes behavioral therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy.
The Clinic also houses the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, which provides services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and extreme behavior problems. Together, you’ll focus on the problems you’re facing and work through personal, family, and relationship problems to promote more effective functioning and well-being.
Procedures and Appointments
Appointments for psychotherapy at the Psychological Services Clinic are typically once a week for 50 minutes. Your assigned trainee will meet with you individually and is available in the clinic only at certain times each week; therefore, your regular appointment often cannot be changed once it’s set.
Fees for psychotherapy and assessment are set by a sliding scale based on family income and family size. Though clinic services are not offered free of charge, we try to assess fees that are as affordable as possible for each client. Fees are due when the services are provided. There is no charge for missed appointments, but please notify the Clinic when you cannot keep your scheduled time.
If you need to contact your assigned trainee at a time other than your scheduled appointment, call the Clinic office at 281-283-3330. During regular office hours (Monday-Friday) the office staff will facilitate contacting your assigned trainee.
