office of the president

August 8, 2018

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

I am pleased to announce that after an extensive national search, De’Awn Bunch has been selected as the first Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications at University of Houston-Clear Lake. She will assume the role on August 20.

De’Awn brings several years of experience in marketing, communications, brand management and team leadership to UH-Clear Lake. Since 2015, she has served as the Executive Director of Enrollment Services Communication and Marketing at the University of Houston. In this role, De’Awn led a team in creating integrated communication and marketing campaigns that led to record undergraduate enrollment for three consecutive years.

While at UH, De’Awn served as the lead consultant for marketing and brand standardization to 27 departments and programs as communications manager for the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services. Prior to UH, she served as the Director of Marketing and Public Information at Lamar State College-Orange. Outside of higher education, she held positions at Beaumont Enterprise and FleishmanHillard, a global PR and digital marketing agency.

De’Awn earned her Master of Business Administration from Bauer College of Business at UH in 2012, and Bachelor of Business Administration in 2006 from Emory University in Atlanta.

I am confident that she will help us in developing positive brand experiences that advance the university’s distinction among the community and beyond.

I would like to thank College of Business Dean Ed Waller, who led the search, as well as members of the search committee for their outstanding service during the process.

Please join me in welcoming De’Awn to UHCL. Go Hawks!
