First impressions matter. Be a Hawk Welcome Volunteer.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We take pride in our culture of hospitality. Students often remark about our welcoming, approachable and helpful faculty and staff. It makes a difference in student retention. It makes a difference in student success. It makes a difference in our reputation.

First impressions also make a huge difference. As more students join us on their educational journey — one of the biggest investments they will ever make — it grows even more important that we each exercise our ambassadorial role.

I ask each of you — faculty and staff — to volunteer at least a few hours of your time at one or more of our ambassador tables to help greet and assist students through the first crucial days of the fall semester.

Please complete our Hawk Welcome Crew volunteer signup form. We have 90-minute and two-hour shifts available at the following dates and times:

  • 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Thursday, Aug. 26-29
  • 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30
  • Tables and tents will be set up in strategic locations across the campus.

Great reputations do not happen overnight. They are developed and nurtured — not by some of us, but all of us.

Sincerely,

Ira K. Blake, Ph.D.
President
