Dear UHCL Faculty and Staff:

I am saddened to share news of the passing of Dr. Michele Kahn, Associate Professor of Multicultural Education in the College of Education. Dr. Kahn died Monday, after a long illness.

Dr. Kahn joined University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2004, where she taught courses on equity, diversity, communication and language, and guided students through their dissertations. She was passionate about teaching and social justice issues.

Dr. Kahn received her bachelor's and master's degrees from University of Southern Mississippi, and her doctorate from University of Alabama. Born in Metaire, Louisiana, she grew up in Guatemala.

Memorial services are at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 24, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet in Bellaire. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations to no-kill animal shelters be made in her name.

I offer my condolences to family, friends and all who knew and loved her. Remember, our Office of Counseling Services can provide any emotional support you may need. If you need to talk, please call 281-283-2580.
