Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Edward R. Waller has agreed to serve as the Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, effective October 1, 2025.
Dr. Waller brings over 32 years of service to UHCL and an extensive background in academic leadership, program development, and institutional accreditation. Since joining our faculty in 1993, he has served in several key leadership roles, including Associate Dean and, most recently, Dean of the College of Business. As Dean, Dr. Waller has provided strategic direction and operational oversight for one of UHCL's largest colleges. He has guided efforts to reaffirm AACSB accreditation for both business and accounting programs, supported faculty development, and advanced the college’s engagement through the Center for Executive Education in both Clear Lake and the Texas Medical Center.
A noted scholar in the areas of financial markets, commercial banking, and corporate finance, Dr. Waller has authored research in national and international publications and remains an active member of the Financial Management Association International. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Arizona State University and holds a M.S. and B.S degree in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Additionally, Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Dr. Waller, will select Dr. Troy Voelker, the current Associate Dean in the College of Business, to serve as the Interim Dean of the College of Business effective October 1, 2025.
A national search for the new Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost will be launched soon. Additional details about the search process will be shared in the coming weeks.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Waller and offering your full support as he takes on this important leadership responsibility.
Sincerely,
Richard Walker, Ed.D.
