Welcome to the Fall 2025 Semester at UHCL!

August 18, 2025
Dear Faculty and Staff,
Welcome to the Fall 2025 semester at the University of Houston-Clear Lake! Whether you’ve been a part of the UHCL community for many years or are just beginning your journey with us, we’re truly grateful to count you as part of our Hawk family.
I extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated faculty, staff, and administration for your hard work, careful planning, and commitment in bringing us to this day. Your tireless efforts ensure our students have the resources, guidance, and support they need to thrive.
As we welcome our students back, I encourage each of you to help them feel at home, whether by offering directions, answering questions, or simply sharing a warm greeting. Your engagement plays a vital role in helping them succeed. Please also encourage them to participate in our Weeks of Welcome activities, which offer students opportunities to connect, get involved, and experience a genuine sense of belonging. Learn more.
Exciting things are happening with new services in place and renovations underway:
- The new copy center – The Copy Cove - in Bayou Building 2403, is now open
- Construction is underway on the Bayou Building Renovation project, which will upgrade the third-floor labs and classrooms
- The Spirit Store is getting the finishing touches and will open in late September
Looking ahead, we have much to celebrate this semester. UHCL at Pearland marks its 15th anniversary; our new aerospace engineering program welcomed its first group of students, and we continue to enhance the UHCL experience for our students, faculty, and staff. I also invite you to mark your calendar for this year’s State of the University address on Wednesday, October 15, where I will share updates on our progress, priorities, and vision for the future. More details will be shared in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for all you do to advance our mission. I wish you a successful and rewarding semester.
Sincerely,
Richard Walker, Ed.D.
President
